A Labrador's Unbridled Joy & Webinars Today & In March
A teeny tiny update & 'original art' (mine!)
Greetings! I hope there’s some sun where you are - it has certainly brightened me up this morning :) Just a quick note today…
Muddy Puddle Inspo
On Saturday morning, I tumbled/rushed out of the house to get myself to Battersea Park for a 10K run I had half forgotten I’d signed up to (I thought me and a friend had signed up to the same one, but we realised 2 weeks ago that we’d signed up for totally different races). Half way there, I realised I’d forgotten to bring my race number with me, and so wondered if they’d even let me run the race. My very familiar ‘hmm maybe turn back home and have a nice chill’ parts started chiming in, and I also pondered the idea of just running home instead of running the race. But I still seemed to have time, so got myself to the race site, where a very nice man gave me a new race number and informed me that the 10K race was starting right this second (earlier than I thought), so I ran off and joined the back. It turned out this was actually the 5K, but they were running the same route just a few minutes earlier (and half as many laps). So I had the quite pleasant experience of feeling like I was a bit faster than I actually was (well, and getting overtaken by all the fast 10K runners).
I’ve found running to be quite an interesting exercise (no pun intended) in attending to the different parts of myself - because inevitably there are a few that pop up at various points shouting ‘abort abort abort! What are you doing?! Stop and rest! Rest is the only thing we could possibly want right now!’. So it’s been a nice opportunity to practice listening to these different parts, acknowledging their displeasure (and also agreeing that if necessary, I definitely can stop), thanking them for bearing with it, and seeing if I can carry on a bit longer.
And this led me to the one part of the race that made all parts of me most happy (apart from the end), which was when I ran past a blonde labrador living their best life in a deep muddy puddle. Splashing around, relishing the moment, and drinking the puddle water. Pure joy. And since I didn’t have time to take a photo (cos I was THAT fast - haha), here is my artist’s interpretation of that moment:
Webinars Incoming
Webinars/Online Workshops! In a moment of inspiration, and an experiment with using Eventbrite, I’ve set up a series of online workshops called ‘The Demystifying Coahing Series’. These are for people who are intrigued by the hype around coaching, curious about how it works and interested to take some golden nuggets away to start applying in daily life. It’ll also be a lovely opportunity to connect as a community, and share reflections in a discussion-style session. So seasoned coaching fans are very welcome too - it’d be great to hear your perspective!
The first one is running tonight, and will explore what it is about coaching that creates these moments of pure MAGIC - where the angst-filled fog of stuckness lifts, new possibilities open up, and the world and you feel totally different. How does this happen?! Come and join me at 6pm today (and repeated in March) to work this out! And in March I’ll be running some more similar webinars looking into how Internal Family Systems in coaching can help alleviate overwhelm, soothe inner critics and unlock trust and confidence in yourself. Check out the whole series and book tickets here. (NB I’ve updated this link after the original post as I don’t think the first one worked).
That’s it for now. Wishing you a lovely second half of Feb! Here’s me looking would-be-smug if it weren’t for the backwardsness of all the text in this photo, and the strain of trying to get the station name in shot (mirror image confusion).
I loved this post Miriam and your artists impression!
